Calming Sapphire

Updated: Sep 22, 2022

September isn’t just an awesome Earth Wind and Fire song, it signals the end of Summer and the beginning of Autumn. A season where we get to grab our boots, layer up and enjoy those crisp morning walks surrounded by golden leaves, big bowls of warming comfort food and sunsets that are next level vibrant. I think it’s fair to say Autumn is definitely my jam 😍🍂

Sapphire skies

Although the falling of leaves symbolises decay and even death, for me it’s a “pause” on life while we gather and store strength in order to flourish during the warmer months. It’s a time to slow down and take stock of what we have, and simply enjoy the beauty all around us through the ever-changing skies.

Sapphire holds the deep blue hues of a cool September twilight, which is what makes them so spellbinding. Not only is there visual magic in their colour, Sapphires are also known as the stone of wisdom and learning, and is associated with royalty, faithfulness, truth and romance.

These glorious gems can be found in Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, India, Sri Lanka and even in Brazil and the US. Measuring a 9 on Mohs scale they are strong and resilient and perfect for wearing as jewellery.

Ancient Greeks and Romans believed that Sapphires protected them from evil and bad omens, and to this day many cultures still believe that blue stones are highly protective against bad vibes and illness.

Evil eye jewellery is usually in blue tones

We’ve got Chemistry…

Sapphires aren’t just royal blue in colour, they can also be found in shades of yellow, green, pink, black and white. So what causes all of these colour variations? It’s down to the differing amounts of naturally occurring minerals such as Chromium, Iron, Vanadium and Titanium that create all the diverse colours of Sapphires.

White Sapphires are the default, but if you add a bit of Iron, you’ll get a green sapphire. Add more Iron and Titanium, you’ll get a blue stone. An over-abundance of Iron and Titanium will create a rare inky black Sapphire. Or add some Chromium to a white Sapphire and you’ll get a pink one, while loads of Chromium in a pink Sapphire will get you a… Ruby! Natural chemistry is amazing and totally mind blowing! 🤯

Speak your mind…

Each colour crystal has its own vibration and chakra association, but as you’ve probably guessed, we’re going to focus on the traditionally blue stone here in this blog post. The colour blue is usually linked to the throat chakra, which makes sense as Sapphire is a truth stone.

Blue Sapphire is ideal if you’re doing any form of public speaking, presentations or teaching. The gemstone also amplifies healing energies, so it is beneficial to those who are going through therapy as this will help them to speak their truth. Sapphire releases negative thoughts, eases depression and stress, and brings calm and comfort like a velvet throw on a cold night.

So now we know what Sapphire is all about, let’s take a look at why this gorgeous gemstone is the perfect partner for our September babes. Virgo and Libra are the Zodiacs of the month, so let’s dive right in…

The Virgin…

Blue Sapphire is aligned with Saturn who likes order, structure, and self-discipline. Throw these words out into the atmosphere and anyone would think you’re talking about Virgo traits, which is why Blue Sapphires are perfect for September Virgos.

This concentration of energy is wonderful for helping Virgos to manifest their desires and achieve those goals, while warding off any negative thoughts that may creep in and threaten to destroy any progress.

Virgos can often seem shy, so wearing a Sapphire would help them to speak up and show the world who they really are, and how they feel.

The Libran…

The sign of Libra is depicted by an image of balanced scales. Unlike the other zodiac images which are of “alive” creatures, the scales for Libra symbolise the Equinox - when day and night are equal in hours – and this date usually falls within Libra season.

Much like their symbol, Librans are all about balance and justice. They seek harmony, which can often be at odds with their busy lives.

Their social values and diplomatic nature mean that they usually have many friends and can often struggle to juggle their BFF-to-everyone duties with everything else in their lives.

As a result, they can often be indecisive and suffer with emotional burnout, which is where Sapphire comes in. Sapphire will help our Libran friends to feel energised and to find peace with whatever they’re doing.

How to incorporate Sapphire into your life?

Wear a Sapphire crystal to feel the benefits everyday. A necklace is ideal because it places the crystal near to your throat chakra, which will help you to communicate clearly with kindness and love.

This Raw Sapphire gemstone necklace will also make the perfect gift for a loved one (A fantastic 45th Anniversary gift), or even yourself - because adorning yourself in jewels is an act of self-love and self-appreciation 💙

That’s it for our spotlight on Sapphire – Next month will be all about gentle Pink Opals, emotional healing, facing our fears and spreading kindness.

Love,

Bini xx
